Replenish

Parents, you are incredible. We celebrate you and thank-you for your daily efforts to support the education of your children. Parenting is a 24-7 commitment. The selfless work you do every day matters so much!  What are you doing to take care of you?

“Self-care is never a selfish act—

it is simply good stewardship of the only gift I have,

the gift I was put on earth to offer to others.” Parker Palmer

Perhaps your self-care resembles this:

“Started making myself breakfast, and ended up making everybody, except myself, breakfast.” —

Or this:

“The closest I get to a spa day is when steam from the dishwasher smacks me in the face.” @foreverymom

But, seriously…

  • When do you have time for replenishing yourself?
  • What kinds of activities provide you with a sense of renewal, stress relief, or added energy?

As hard as it may be, a regular self-care routine in your busy schedule will make an immense difference in your ability to feel more balanced and to be a better parent and teacher.

  •  Where can you place 15 minutes, or more, in your daily schedule to do whatever it is that will replenish your physical, intellectual, emotional, spiritual, or social needs?

No need for guilt! You will provide a great example for your children as you do this, and you will have a greater sense of overall well-being and balance. You’ll even have more to give to those you love most.

“Self-compassion is simply giving the same kindness to ourselves that we would give to others.” Christopher Germer
