Seventh Grade Math
Our math class goes beyond just learning math… it helps students build a great relationship with math. Math builds critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a way that no other subject can. While some students may love math and feel confident in their skills, others may not see any purpose for learning math at all. Our goal is to create a positive math mindset while students build the skills they need to be successful in math. Sign up for classes.
Individualized learning
Live tutoring through Imagine Learning
One-on-one scheduled help with CGA math teacher
Guided instruction or self-paced
Our engaging math teacher, Mr. Curtis Hansen, will guide the students through our math program using Google Meet several times a week: 8:30-9:20 am Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In addition, students will practice their math skills through Imagine Learning. This is an exciting program that offers excellent math instruction, motivation, relevance, and personalized tutoring with a math teacher as needed. Mr. Hansen is also available for individualized, scheduled help sessions.
Students also have the option of an adaptive, self-paced math course (that does not include the CGA Google Meet sessions). Self-paced students have access to our amazing math course and Imagine Learning. The instruction through Imagine Learning builds conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills and provides access to support from a live teacher as needed. Mr. Hansen is also available for individualized, scheduled help sessions. Imagine Learning builds confidence in students’ math ability and builds a deep understanding of math, connecting their problem-solving skills to day-to-day life and going beyond computation to true math comprehension.

Don’t settle for mere digitized math drills. ST Math is a visual instructional program that builds a deep conceptual understanding of math through rigorous learning and creative problem solving to engage, motivate and challenge PreK-8 students toward higher achievement. Every student deserves his or her own personal journey toward math mastery. With ST Math, students progress at their own pace and engage with a unique series of animated puzzles. Students use the immediate and informative feedback to adjust their thinking while solving a problem. Parents have access to a simple-yet-powerful, built-in reporting system to monitor learning and quickly identify the instructional needs of each student.
Notes: A fun and effective way to learn math.
Math opens us up to the invisible and ordered world all around us. Math helps us think logically, enhance our critical thinking skills, and create and improve our environment in a more orderly way. The reasoning skills learned through the practice of math are an essential piece of a liberal arts education.
Unlike advanced levels of math such as algebra and calculus, our middle school math program is designed to help students build a strong foundational understanding of skills such as fractions, decimals, negative numbers, and basic geometry, which most students will use regularly throughout their daily lives. The attitude students develop towards math in middle school is likely to shape their attitude towards math in high school, college, and life.
Every middle school math course is offered in both live and self-paced formats. The content of live and self-paced math courses is markedly different, and each format is designed to serve different kinds of math learners. Learn More

Negative numbers, the order of operations, solving for the unknown, and other topics.
The Honors pages provided with our upper-level courses (Pre-Algebra through Calculus) are intended to extend the concepts presented in the lessons, much as the Application and Enrichment pages in the Greek Letter levels, and are not designed to meet the requirements of a high school “Honors”-level course. These additional activities serve to round out a student’s understanding of the main concepts already being taught. Even if a student completes all of these pages, the designation “Honors” cannot be added to the course description on the student’s transcript. Learn More
Needs: Student Workbook, Teacher Manual & Instructional DVD, Integer Block Set & Decimal Inserts.
Notes: Math-U-See is great for hands on learners. It can be quite repetitive and doesn’t contain many reviews. Placement Test
Teaches math with a spiral approach, which emphasizes the incremental development of new material and continuous review of previously taught concepts.
Building upon the principles taught in Saxon Math 7/6, the Saxon 87 textbook reviews arithmetic calculation, measurements, geometry and other skills, and introduces pre-algebra, ratios, probability, and statistics. Students will specifically learn about adding/subtracting/multiplying fractions, equivalent fractions, the metric system, repeating decimals, scientific notation, Pi, graphing inequalities, multiplying algebraic terms, the Pythagorean Theorem, the slope-intercept form of linear equations, and more.
Lessons contain a warm-up (with facts practice, mental math, & problem-solving exercises); introduction to the new concept, lesson practice exercises where the new skill is practiced, and mixed practice exercises, which includes 25-30 old and new problems. In-depth “Investigations” are provided every 10 lessons and have their own set of questions.
The Tests and Worksheets book provides supplemental “facts practice” tests for each lesson, as well as 23 cumulative tests that cover every 5-10 lessons. The included “activity sheets” are designed to be used with the activities given in the student worktext. Five optional, reproducible, recording forms are also included.
The Solutions Manual provides answers for all problems in the lesson (including warm-up, lesson practice, and mixed practice exercises), as well as solutions for the supplemental practice found in the back of the student text. It also includes answers for the facts practice tests, activity sheets, and tests in the separate tests & worksheets book.
Saxon Math 8/7 is designed for students in grade 7, or for 8th-grade students who are struggling with math. Learn More

Understanding Algebra I presents an essential concept and skills needed to fully understand and gain confidence in algebra in a step-by-step fashion, teaching students that algebra is generalized arithmetic. It helps students see the connection between mathematics that they already know and algebra so that learning algebra becomes easier and less abstract. This book provides students with real strategies to succeed in solving word problems by using charts and translating strategies that guarantee success.
Drawing from the author’s extensive experience teaching algebra to many students with varying strengths, this book explains algebraic concepts simply and effectively and gives special attention to concepts students frequently find confusing. Understanding Algebra I also uses critical thinking questions to help students improve their understanding and master the core concepts and skills of Algebra I. Students who complete this work successfully develop confidence in their algebra skills and many even develop a love for algebra and the power of higher level mathematics. Learn More

This unique, award-winning, hands-on program de-emphasizes counting, uses visualization of quantities, and provides strategies and visual pictures for learning the facts. Understanding and problem solving are emphasized throughout the curriculum. The primary learning tool is the AL Abacus, a specially designed two-sided abacus that is both kinesthetic and visual. The AL Abacus is grouped in fives and tens for quick recognition of quantities. The second side of the AL Abacus teaches place value to the thousands. Children develop visual strategies as they use this manipulative. Practice is provided with math card games, minimizing review worksheets and eliminating stressful flash cards. These games provide interesting and varied repetition that is needed for the automatic responses to the facts. More importantly, these games provide an application for new information and create hours of fun learning math facts and concepts. Learn More
